A day out

My mom and step-dad were kind enough to invite (their treat) my step-sister Ayrah and I to get out of the house without children or hubbies on Saturday. We got to play tourist as we took Uncle Steve and Aunt Kim from CA to a few places with us. The first thing we did was go to Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO. I have been there several times for concerts but never just to visit so it really was cool to see it in a different light. We went to their visitor's center/gift shop and they have a deck on the backside with a really great view down the rocks. Then we did actually go into the amphitheater part but thank goodness didn't go down the steps! Their seating capacity is 9450 so it is a pretty big place. If you click on the link above, you can go to a really neat interactive seating chart and it will give you a good idea of just how steep the place is.

My mom (the one looking the other way), Bryan, Kim and Steve on the deck at Red Rocks

Then we went to Coors Brewery in Golden, CO for a tour. I can't really say that any of us are beer drinkers but it was still interesting to learn all about the process of making beer! And here is a little tid bit for ya, if you aren't really a drinker, you could probably get a wee bit tipsy on this tour! You get a small cup of beer about half way through the tour and then at the end you get 3 more full glasses of beer! Kim tried a couple different Zima flavors, I tried a pumpkin flavored beer and my mom tried a couple dark beers. And we pretty much only liked one of the Zima's! What women we are! :)

How would you like to have this full of beer?! This is just outside of the Coors building.

Ayrah at the tour halfway mark with her first sample of beer.

Bryan, Steve, Kim and my mom with their 1st beer samples. And despite the look on Kim's face, she wasn't drunk! :)

And finally, after all of that, we went to a Rockies game. Of course the game we go to is the 1 in 3 that they lost! Oh well! The games are still really fun to go to.

All in all, it was a fun day. Very tiring though. And I think everyone else enjoyed it too! Sometimes it is good to just get away from it all. And then it is that much better when you get home and see your kids happy smiling faces!

It sounds like a very fun day ... BUT ... where are the pictures of YOU?

I am behind the camera! I was the only one that remember to bring one, therefore I was the only one taking pictures! And I am OK with that!

I totally agree...I hate being in pictures! Your day sounded like fun, but poor JR probably needs a day off now, since you left him with the kids all day!
